Moroccans of the world and Africans of Morocco, the bastion of identity that has defeated digital smear campaigns.

Dr. Abdullah Boussouf (Historian, Secretary-General of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad)
The massive digital dissemination, dissemination of fake news, and broadcasting of videos using artificial intelligence technology targeting Morocco's image abroad is not a new invention. Indeed, these external entities always leave blatant traces of the "media mud" through which they attempt to tarnish Morocco's image abroad. This was evident both in terms of timing—it occurred before the glorious Throne Speech in July 2025 and during Operation Marhaba, which was accompanied by the announcement of remittance figures, which this year reached approximately 113 billion dirhams—and in terms of the subject matter, namely the strong connection Moroccans around the world have with their homeland, Morocco.
It appears that this relationship, built on mutual, legitimate allegiance, and the significant role of Moroccans abroad in the Moroccan Sahara issue—which the King of Morocco has praised in more than one royal speech—in addition to their strong contributions to regional development, particularly in the Moroccan countryside, constitute a source of irritation for those parties hostile to Moroccan interests. Therefore, we cannot ignore this cheap media campaign without exposing it with figures and positions, as everyone has noticed the massive digital download of content with the same rhetoric, the same language, and the same goal.
They have tried to undermine Operation Marhaba 2025, claiming that Moroccans around the world are boycotting and angry, and that their destination this year is other countries, not Morocco. However, the numbers belie all their lies. As of August 4, Moroccan border authorities recorded the entry of more than 2.7 million people, a 101% increase over last year. In doing so, Moroccans around the world have proven that the bonds of identity, religion, customs, and connection to Morocco are much greater than a plane ticket or a hotel room reservation. While acknowledging the high prices, the community's connection is spiritual and religious, and the immigrant's return is not that of a passing tourist, but rather the return of a "dutiful son."

The digital downfall was not limited to Moroccans around the world, but also included our African brothers, with attempts to demonize them by spreading acts of vandalism and violence attributed to our African brothers. Much of what was published has no basis in truth. We all remember the humanitarian decision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in 2014, transforming Morocco from a country of transit to a country of settlement and integration. This profound strategic decision earned the recognition of the African Union, which awarded His Majesty the title of "Leader in the Field of Migration," "Defender of African Migration," and hosting the headquarters of the "African Migration Observatory" in the capital, Rabat. It's worth noting that the number of sub-Saharan African migrants does not exceed 50,000. Morocco has worked to regularize the status of thousands of them, guaranteeing basic rights such as healthcare, education, and integration into the labor market. It is illogical to demand the rights of our migrants abroad while denying the same rights to our African brothers. Morocco has a diaspora in more than 50 countries around the world, including many African countries, where Moroccans enjoy great respect and appreciation.
The architects of the "new media mudslide" operation have forgotten that Moroccans abroad are inhabited by the homeland, live every detail of Moroccan and religious identity in their daily lives, and have been suckled with the milk of patriotism and loyalty from the breasts of free Moroccan mothers.
The position-mongers also overlooked the fact that the presence of our African brothers in Morocco is a strategic decision, not an emotional one. Therefore, their corrupt wares will not benefit them, and digital campaigns whose engineers and creators are known will not shake Morocco. Moroccans around the world are present in their country, Morocco, and in force. There is no consolation for the haters.
